They say you can't make everyone happy.
"They" must not have been Cherokee.

Welcome to Cherokee, N.C., the original homeland of our 11,000-year-old civilization...older than the Inca, Maya, Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. We are pleased to invite your group to our 100-square mile soverign nation nestled at the southern entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Your group is sure to rave and sleep all the way home having been immersed in Cherokee culture and brought to life in legends, history, tradition, song, dance, ceremony and period regalia at the renowned Cherokee events and attractions. Put together an itinerary that combines the annual Festival of Native Peoples, Southeastern Tribal Arts Celebration, the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, Inc., the Oconaluftee Indian Village or the celebrated "Unto These Hills" Outdoor Drama.

This enchanted land of scenic beauty and natural wonderment offer a happy irony, moments too precious to measure in dollars are free. Check out our 101 Free Things to Do. Go elk watching, walk along river and bird trails, hike to waterfalls, visit a pioneer village, wade the Oconaluftee, peruse local art galleries, picnic and relax on the Islands Park...just to name a few. Or, horseback riding, fishing, tubing, whitewater rafting and a railroad are accessible and of great value.

Nothing is more Cherokee than gathering friends and family for a big time. From May to November, choose from 14 events: Native American festivals showcasing authentic song, dance, ceremony, arts and regalia, hot rods, fairs, music, and local delights like smoked trout, cornbread and horse shoes.

This year Cherokee announces North Carolina's newest world-class golf experience, the Sequoyah National Golf Club. This new Robert Trent Jones II designed course, rated No. 2 "Best New Course You Can Play" by Golf Magazine 2009. The 18-hole, par 72 championship course measures 6,600 yards, features immaculate greens and fairways, long-range, spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains, and a practice area with Callaway Golf Club fitting by certified PGA Golf Professionals that is an experience in itself.

Itineraries and accommodations are designed to fit your group's interests, budget and timing. Choose from the four-star Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel, national chains, nostalgic motor lodges, cabins and campgrounds.
