A poem: Wake up in a land of dreams
Sports Complex
| | There is a place with the greatest of outdoor waterfalls, mountain trails, river trails, country roads, wildlife and much more. Come enjoy our land. Share our outdoor culture of thousands of years. Come and discover why we left the Trail of Tears. Look at the majestic Mingo Falls where water rushes down 200 feet of scenic beauty. Imagine a time years ago when love brought a young Indian couple together to this serene place of peace. And where older couples come back to reminisce surrounded by beauty. Come walk in our footsteps on the Oconaluftee River trail, where we walked many moons ago. Take a breather as you walk and listen to the wind talk, the birds call and the sounds of wildlife that treasure their land. There is even a chance you'll get a glimpse of a black bear. Close by are mountain trails where we once dreamed of adventurous trips into the unknown, exploring to hunt and sometimes to find a secret place we could call our own while enjoying the serenity as far as the eye could see. Our rivers and streams are still the same ones we fished in long ago. Capture the same excitement that we did when our young caught their first fish. Or just jump in and enjoy our fresh, clean water. Come to our campgrounds-the same place where we watched the stars light up the sky. Feel the cool breezes of the night winds. Watch tree limbs dance with shadows on the water cast by the moonlight. Wake up in the morning of cool fresh air and watch the sun rise in places only in your mind. Come enjoy our great outdoors and some time, in some place, you'll feel the call of the wild. We'll be waiting for you on your return to share our land. |
