OUTDOOR SUMMER ADVENTURE IN CHEROKEE

UNTO THESE HILLS PREMIERE WEEKEND COMING SOON

The weekend of June 13–15 is the ideal time to experience the unsurpassed richness of Cherokee history and cultural, as Cherokee’s most revered attractions open to the public with special celebrations. The nation’s third longest running outdoor drama “Unto These Hills,” takes center stage on Friday, June 13, at 7 p.m. for its first performance of the season. When “Unto These Hills” debuted on July 1, 1950, it featured a cast of more than 100 performers, 350 costumes, and the buzz more akin to Broadway than the Blue Ridge Mountains.

EMISSARIES OF PEACE EXHIBIT RETURNS TO THE MUSEUM OF THE CHEROKEE INDIAN

Come with us this June and celebrate the grand reopening of the renowned “Emissaries of Peace” exhibit at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. The exhibit is back in Cherokee following a successful five-month stay at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History where more than 3.9 million people viewed it. The exhibit offers a visually stimulating, interactive tour of 18th-century Cherokee and British life as chronicled in the memoirs of British lieutenant Henry Timberlake.

CHEROKEE VOICES FESTIVAL ON JUNE 14

While at the Museum, don’t miss the exciting  Annual Cherokee Voices Festival on Saturday, June 14. The event celebrates Eastern Band Cherokee heritage and includes more than fifty Eastern Band Cherokee artists and performers presenting traditional dance, music, and storytelling from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
