Fair Opening Spotlights Local Teen Band’s Generosity

The 96th Annual Cherokee Indian Fair is a time to celebrate fall and have some fun. This year however, a local teenage bluegrass and gospel band called the Rye Holler Boys, were determined to reach out and do something exceptional to help a family in need. The band will give a special heartfelt performance and donate the proceeds to the family of slain State Trooper Shawn Blanton. The band’s fee plus all of the proceeds from CD sales (cost $10 ea.) the night of the fair will go to benefit the Blanton Family Fund.

Third Annual Big Rigs Antique Truck Show

The Big Rigs Antique Truck Show on October 17–19, at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds, is a great way for owners, vendors, and admirers to interact, answer and ask questions, get new ideas, and see customs and original truck restorations. There is something for everyone who loves Big Rigs. This family-friendly event takes place at the peak of the colorful fall leaf season on the Qualla Boundary. More than 2,200 spectators and participants showed up for last year’s event.

Oconaluftee Indian Village Prepares to Close for the Season

Don’t miss your last chance this year to take the family to the Oconaluftee Indian Village. Step back in time some 300 years to a place where life was less complicated – a time before electronics, dishwashers, and televisions. Classic Cars Cruise Into Cherokee

The highly anticipated, “Cruise the Smokies” Fall Cherokee Rod Run. More than 3,000 car enthusiasts will turn out for the Southeast’s premiere Rod Run from October 31 – November 2, at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds.
