“Walk, Wobble or Run” 5K Run

Join in the fun at this year’s “Walk, Wobble or Run” 5K on Saturday, November 22. Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds on HWY 441 located next to the Cherokee Indian Museum. The free community event is open to walkers and runners of all ages and the first 100 participants will receive a free t-shirt. The run starts at 9 a.m. in the LIFT parking lot.

Cherokee Helps U.S. Troops

U.S. Army Troops stationed in Afghanistan will be getting a lesson in Cherokee culture and history later this month, in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. The 62nd Engineer Battalion will sponsor a Native American Awareness day on November 29. A display of Cherokee promotional and educational materials will be available to familiarize soldiers with Native American cultural history and traditions.

The Annual Half Price Christmas Sale at Qualla Arts & Crafts Mutual Co-op offers hundreds of handcrafted, unique works of art by Native American artists including jewelry, baskets, wood and stone-carved items, beadwork, dolls, and more. The sale runs from December 1 to December 24 at the Co-op, located at 645 Tsali Blvd., across the street from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian.

Cherokee Native Christmas Event and Holiday Parade

Cherokee Native Christmas, brought to you by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and EBCI Marketing and Promotions, will be held in downtown Cherokee on December 13 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Downtown Cherokee will be adorned with twinkling lights to celebrate the holiday season. Featured entertainment includes Clogging, Bands, Choirs, Indian Dancing, Storytelling, a visit by Santa, and other exciting events. Entertainment is from noon to 6 p.m., with the exciting finale of the Cherokee Christmas Parade.
