The 95th Cherokee Indian Fair Offers Something for Everyone

The 95th Cherokee Indian Fair, Oct. 2-6, at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds on N.C. 441 in Cherokee, offers nightly outdoor concerts with topnotch entertainers, a carnival, fireworks, a midway, competitions, traditional Cherokee food, and a variety of arts and crafts. This year, recording artists Diamond Rio and Los Lonely Boys are the musical headliners performing on Friday and Saturday night, respectively.

Los Lonely Boys & Diamond Rio Headline Musical Acts at 95th Annual Indian Fair

It’s a musical blockbuster 95 years in the making — Los Lonely Boys and Diamond Rio will appear on back-to-back nights at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds, Oct. 5–6. But these very talented bands are just part of the fun making up the 95th annual Indian Fair, Oct. 2–6. Both shows will start each night at 8 p.m.

Emissaries of Peace Documentary Makes World Debut — Set to Air Nationwide on PBS in November

On Thursday, Aug. 30, the world premier of the PBS documentary, “Emissaries of Peace,” was shown at Cherokee High School. The documentary was produced jointly by the Museum of the Cherokee Indian and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Portions of the program were shot earlier this year in Cherokee, NC, and Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia.

NEWS & NOTES: National Tourism Conference Comes to Cherokee

The 9th Annual American Indian Tourism Conference will be held on Sept. 16–19 at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel. The four-day conference is sponsored by the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA), an organization focusing exclusively on tribal tourism.
